How to Speed up an Android Smartphone with 15 Android Hacks

#1. First you have to Know about your android Device hardware configuration

Ya ,first you have to know about your Android Smartphone hardware capabilities and also that How much your Android Smartphone can afford burden of heavy muscular apps. RAM(Random Access Memory) is a temporary memory to store data. RAM plays important role in multitasking in android devices. If you editing your pics using any editing software then you are working on RAM and after then user saved it permanently in SD card .so, my point is to clear the importance of RAM. Now, my device RAM is only 512mb which is not good for multitasking and i cant overload it using heavy apps if i did, then my android will start lagging.

#2. Keep your Android Firmware Up-to-date

Always keep your Android phone up-to-date with latest firmware. Google brings great improvements to each new release of the Android operating system, including updates that ensure stability, higher performance speed and connectivity along with other user-friendly new features. Here my moto is to clear you that updates always brings  important security fixes, bug fixes, unstablity issues and many more fixes. Now every Lollipop android user facing a issue that is internal memory shortage problem and the disappointing thing is still google doesnt fixed this issue. But recently google started providing updates for Lollipop android user. I hope you now you understand the importance of Firmware update.

#3. Uninstall Unwanted and not useful Apps

Every app you install in your phone take some storage space and runs some background processes. The more storage space occupied or the more background processes running on your phone, the slower your phone’s performance. Background process utilizes android hardwares but it doesnt mean its problematic. Background process is a part of multitasking so dont engage your hardwares in unwanted background processes.

#4. Disable Unnecessary Apps

As i told you in above step about How important is to removal of unwanted apps. Some of pre-installed apps cant be uninstall by user, but one can uninstall system apps after root. Now if you cant uninstall unwated app then disable it from apps settings. These disabled apps are not shown on the home screen or app tray but you can re-enable them for use whenever you need them. These apps wont utilize hardware(memory,RAM) longer after disabling them.

In my case, i have disabled lots of apps which are not in use and all are consuming hardwares in background + draining battery. If you dont have idea about which apps to disable then, consider my case. I uninsatlled and disablled apps like google movies, google music, google books and some unwanted apps which i had never used.

#5. Update Apps

You should regularly update your phone’s installed apps from Google Play. Try to get updates your apps when they are available in Google Play. Developers fix bugs and add features in new released versions of apps. Updated apps perform better and faster, and will less likely crash your phone.

#6. Keep Fewer Widgets

Widgets are looks light and small in size but actually they are not. widgets are always running in the background; they are active all the time. While some Android users use it to keep track of the weather, and their important dates, others use widgets like ‘Extended controls’ for quick access for essential configurations such as switching Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or their GPS on or off.

Widgets purpose is to ease of use and quick access but bear in mind that having too many of them running on your homescreen will cause your device’s performance to slow down.Keep only important widgets .

#7. Say no to Live Wallpapers

I know live wallpaper looks lovely and it makes your android phones as living. But live wallpapers has lot of cons like  battery will drain quickly, need more hardware utilization like CPU cycles to run, thus draining the battery faster. So only consider still images for background wallpapers.

#8. Stop Syncing

Android phones are also known as smart phones, and smart phones has lot of smart features like mutlitasking, auto syncing and lots more. Auto Syncing is a very good feature which synchronizes your data with servers like google. While your Syncing keeps on, you can get notifications whenever new mail comes in or when you get new notifications or updates for apps. I suggest you to turn off syncing, syncing always runs as background service and as i told you to minimize background services.

You can ignore this option, if you are business man or if you dont have much time to sync manually.

#9. Use High-Speed Memory Card

The memory card is the storage space of your phone. Phones with low internal memory can get a boost from high-capacity memory cards for maximum storage space. But it adds not only capacity but also speed to the mix. You can get between 2GB to 32GB worth of storage space to support high speed read/write operations. Always go for memory cards of Class 6 or Class 10 for your Android phone if you seek performance for your phone.

#10. Use Lightweight Apps

Always try to rely on lightweight apps .I have seen ,some people installs heavy video or audio player apps. Now my question is why ? Android already had built in apps just use them because they are optimized and light weighted.

I had covered all tricks to optimize and speed up android but next points are considered as tweaks and it will make your android ultimately optimized.

Before heading ahead, First unlock developer option . To unlock developer options goto settings > About phone > Build number and then tap 5 times continuously on Build number .

#11. Set Animations scale

What animations? Well, if you haven’t noticed, your phone screen actually fades out and in as you switch from one task to the other. To see this in action Go to Settings > Developer Options > Window Animation Scale > Animation scale 10x. Then choose Window Animation Scale again to see the fade in effect in ‘slow-mo’.

Now you are introduced with animations. Set animation scale from developer options. When you choose Animation off, the screen just snaps to position without animation, you’d probably notice that your Android performs faster with all animations off. If you dont want to off animations then Change the value of Window animation scale, Transition scale, Animation duration scale from 1x to 0.5x .

#12. Limit Background Processes

Background processes on a Smartphone frequently eat RAM, which gives low performance rate. If you’ll restrict these apps to run background, then it’ll speed up your android smartphone. To limit background process :

1) In “Developer options” menu scroll down and tap on “Background process limit“.

2) Now change the value from “Standard limit” to “3 processes at most” or you can set it to “No background processes

3) No background process means faster speed.
